Stuff I’m Workin On

March 29, 2011 By MC Burton

Stuff I’m Working On!!

At the moment, I have a number of things going on. First is my album production CD! The CD will have many trax that I’ve been working on myself in addition to collaborations with other artists and producers as well. The purpose of this project is to give the public, other producers, up in coming AND noted Artists a taste of the type of production I do here at JONTI Productions. In other words, I’m a gun for hire!

Next I’m planning the release party or gathering (whatever you wanna call it) for that Production CD I just mentioned. I plan on doing this in conjunction with my new family over at Open Labs! Have you heard? I’m one of their “Spotlight Artists” now! If you haven’t heard of this company, don’t sleep! They are the future of music production! Check em out at http://www.openlabs.com The release will be held at some swank Hollywood location! (you know, gotta play the role right!) Look for this event to happen this summer. I’ll blog the final details a bit later. . . .

Next, I’m working on a couple of trax the independent upcoming motion picture, Tech Support. This is a film by New York times best selling author, Mike Bara. The movie is about a girl trying to make it in, guess where. . . Hollywood! There’s much more to the story than that, but I don’t want to spoil it for you. I’m reading the script now. One of my trax will be playing in a club scene. Check Mike out at:

And lastly, getting ready to leave for the New Orleans Jazz Festival! – literally, in a few hours – Over 200 Artists performing from the queen of soul Aretha Franklin to Pearl Jam (wonder who those guys are? (just kidding)

Well, that’s all for now. Do you have something fun going on that you want to share with me? Just BBB! (burton blog me back)

Peace

Long Time No Blog!!!!! (my bad…)

December 3, 2010 By MC Burton

Long Time No Blog!!!!! (my bad… )

Summer’s gone, fall is just about over too. It was a long summer. One I’ll never forget. You know the saying, “The show must go on”? Unfortunately its true. Even when we think that we can’t, we must. Altogether I lost 5 loved ones between the months of July and November. I’m praying no more for a looooooong time to come. . . . As I’m sure you can imagine, that took a lot of wind out of my sails, but it’s truly time to get back at it.

Many things are finally developing for me. Since my last Blog, I’ve been working quite a bit with Kurt Farquhar. I mentioned him in a previous blog. He’s the founder of TrueMusic. http://www.truemusiconline.com They place a ton of music for film and television. If you’ve seen it on Prime Time tv, TrueMusic is probably behind the music! The process of getting a song placed on tv or film is quite different from anything I ever imagined. I won’t bore you with details but I have three songs that have been accepted and should be placed!!! Where? What shows? With whom? Your guess is as good as mine but. . I really don’t care! Its all good!

Ok, I’ve already used one cliche. He’s another, “Small world”. During a meeting with a TruMusic attorney, I was asked if I was the MC Burton from Grand Rapids, MI and do I know Mike Starr. Here I am in the most import meeting I’ve had this year, I’m already nervous and this question pops up? Surprised would be an understatement if describing my reaction. 3rd cliche, “to make a long story short”, the person who set up TrueMusic’s computer network and server systems is a friend of mine from back in Michigan. Mike and I go waaaay back – longer than I care to mention. I hadn’t spoken to Mike in close to 20 years! Mike used to record in my studio back in Grand Rapids b4 I moved out here. How crazy is that!!!

Anyhow, Mike and I were working in the world famous Westlake Studios this past weekend. Westlake Studios has hosted every Grammy winning artist you can imagine. To think that I was working in the same room that Michael Jackson once graced, is way beyond cool! They even had a special balcony that was built just for Bubbles (remember him, the chimp?) so that he could watch Michael when he was recording. weird but true. . . . On another front, my buddy Mike Bara has released his second book called, “The Choice”. Show some love and go get it! It’ll make a nice stocking stuffer!
http://www.amazon.com/Mike-Bara/e/B003UU78RK Mike and I have been working on his independent film, Tech Support. However, due to his book tour and speaking engagements, the film production has been postponed until after the new year. I guess my Oscar winning performance will have to wait. . . .

I can’t believe that the year is drawing to a close already! Christmas will be here before you know it, then its “2011″, then we’ll all be in debt for about 3 months or more and then we’ll do it all over again. Well at the least my company is up n running and finally making some noise and creating some recognition for me. In just a few days will be my one year anniversary since I left Corporate America. I used to ask myself, did I do the right thing by leaving. I don’t do that any more. ; )

Have a safe and wonderful Holiday Season!!!

GOD Bless!

What I’m Doin Now

June 1, 2010 By MC Burton

What I’m Doin Now

It’s been quite a month for me since the last time I did some blogging. The production album is coming along great! I’m still on schedule for a fall release date. It’s gonna be hot. I can’t wait!! I’m shooting another YouTube production video of a new song. I should have it uploaded in a few days. Also, I’m chatting with the management of Andrew DeBarge about doing a song for his next release. This kid is gonna be a star. Check him out.

I was down in Louisiana for the Jazz Festival back in late April. (had an awesome time!) This was only a few days into the oil spill. Back then it was headline news but not like it is now. First Katrina, now BP! This must be cleaned up NOW!

Anyhow, the festival was crazy fun. The bands were all tight and performed their butt’s off! The food was second to none and the most memorable thing that sticks out, is the hospitality of the local people. It is truly a family atmosphere down there. They made me feel like I was part of their family. That’s why I feel absolutely horrible about what’s happening to them. They do not deserve this! Twice in a single generation, this seems well beyond unfair!

If you read my ramblings from before, I mentioned that I was working on a couple of songs for the film entitled, Tech Support due to be released later this year written by Mike Bara. http://www.mikebara.com Well, the first song is complete. It’s actually a remix of my song, She Got The. In the remix I used a loop from the track I’m in Love by Evelyn Champagne King. The track is sick!!! Check it out on the music page! It features my boys Mr. IL & Hona from Chi-town, big shout out to them!

Because, I’m trying to go about using the loop legally, there’s been a lot of paper work. . . . (nightmare!) Long story short, I need permission from the original writer of the song before it’s published. Anybody out there remember Kashif? Producer extraordinaire from the 80′s and 90′s. Click here!
http://www.discogs.com/artist/Kashif

My research lead me to Kashif himself and I have a meeting with him this week. How sweet is that!! (he better give me permission!!)

Hmmm, what else? Oh yeah the movie. How crazy is this? Not only will I have a couple of songs in the movie, I will have a small role too! More details on that later. Grammys, Oscars, here I come!

And lastly but definately not least, my website will be morphing into something even nicer! My webdesigner
http://www.InsuranceWebDesigns.com
Andrea@InsuranceWebDesigns.com
has all these great ideas. What she doesn’t realize is every time she’s suggests something new, I love it and I wanna use it. So she’ll probably never be done working on it. (gotta love her!) Anyway, its going to be redone very soon. You’re gonna love it. I promise.

Ok. that’s it for me. What about you?? Got something going on? Drop me a note and tell me all about it!

Holla back. . .
