About the Founder
ASCAP Film and Television Award winning composer, M. C. Burton is originally from Grand Rapids, MI. M. C. taught himself to play the guitar at the early age of 8 years old. Music, melodies and song arrangements seemed to come to him naturally and performing original works in front of anyone brought him the most joy. M. C’s first exposure to public performance came about when he auditioned and landed the supporting role of Pharaoh in the Junior High School musical, “Joseph and His Technicolor Coat”
In high school, M. C. was a gifted athlete in both basketball and tennis. He was named First Team “All State” in basketball and was a “Dream Team” selection (one of the best five High School basketball players in the state of Michigan) M. C. was also the “All City” high school singles tennis champion as a sophomore. But the desire for music always made its way to the forefront of M. C.’s ambitions. In his senior year of high school, M. C. auditioned for the musical “Carousel” He landed the lead role which shocked the entire school since he was best known as a Blue-Chip basketball player. The role included a five minute acapella soliloquy.
After examining full ride basketball scholarships from across the country, M. C. selected the University of Michigan to play basketball and advance his education. After attending the University of Michigan, M. C. made the decision to pursue his musical interests. He decided to open a recording studio from his home in Grand Rapids. Upon moderate success, M. C. decided to relocate to the West Coast in order to pursue his musical aspirations more diligently.
Like many others in pursuit of the same dream, M. C. had to find work in order to make ends meet if he intended to continue on his musical journey. M. C. soon took a position with an insurance brokerage firm. More than a decade passed in Corporate America and the dream of producing music almost did as well.
M. C. realized that if he didn’t act immediately, he probably never would. The decision was made – he said good-bye to a successful insurance career and never looked back. With the reputation of becoming successful with anything he sets his mind to, the music industry has proven no different. Because of his love and passion for music, M. C. will settle for nothing less than excellence.
“You’ve gotta crawl before you can walk and you’ve gotta walk before you can run. If you keep at it, however, and remain faithful to your passion, you’re destined to cross that finish line in first place sooner or later.”
M.C. is a member of the Television Academy in Hollywood. (music peer group) M. C.’s music can be heard on a many TV shows including: America’s Next Top Model, Totally T-Boz, Read Between the Lines, West Coast Customs, Overhauling, The History channel’s, Everest Air, Car Crazy, and the hit TV show, The Real Husbands of Hollywood starring Kevin Hart.

M. C. realizes and acknowledges that it is only by his faith in God that he has accomplished what he has. And by God’s mercy and grace, there is still so much for him to do. . .
